How can we help you?

Our practice areas include special education, Juvenile Law, family law and conservatorships. Recognizing that each case is unique, we are committed to representing every client with energy, knowledge and integrity.

Special Education

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal law that ensures children with disabilities receive the special education and related services they need. IDEA requires that every child with a recognized disability receives a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) that is tailored to the child’s individual needs.

If you have a child with a disability, we can assist you in advocating for an appropriate educational program for your child in the least restrictive environment. We also offer assistance with understanding the procedural process, assisting parents in securing an independent evaluation and seeking reimbursement for the cost, developing an appropriate and enforceable IEP and filing due process complaints against your school district.

Conservatorship is the legal process in which a conservator is appointed by a court to make personal decisions on behalf of the adult child, which may include decisions about where he or she lives and what medical treatment he or she receives. In order to obtain a conservatorship, a medical affidavit from a physician must be presented to a court stating the reasons the conservatorship is necessary.

If you have questions about conservatorships, or if you are interested in obtaining a conservatorship over your adult child, please contact us.

Family Law

Divorce is a difficult process for everyone, but for parents who have children with disabilities, getting a divorce can feel overwhelming. We understand that life gets complicated, and that standard child support guidelines may not cover many of the added costs that come with raising a child with disabilities.

When considering child support and the division of marital assets, it is important to consider not only the expenses your child has now, but also those he will have in the future. Careful planning and attention to detail can help parents create a divorce, parenting plan and child support arrangement that will protect the future of all their children.
If you are thinking of divorce and have a child with special needs, reach out to us today.
